Have you ever collected rocks? How do you think technology has changed the art of collecting rocks?

Personally I have not ever collected rocks but my girlfriend does keep a cool little collection of about  or 6 rocks that she has found.  I believe technology can change the art of collecting rocks because they could probably create rocks using certain technology today.
